Wonderware Security Central — Your Plant-Floor Security Resource

With security concerns high on the lists of most computer users today, Wonderware is aggressively pursuing ways to help our users protect their production facilities and software investments from injurious security attacks.

To support this effort, Wonderware has created Security Central on the wonderware.com website. Security Central addresses all matters relating to security. For example, it:

  • Helps customers stay abreast of Microsoft® Operating System Security Updates and how they relate to and interact with Wonderware® software systems (i.e., the results of Wonderware’s compatibility testing with Microsoft Security Updates)
  • Provides Best Practices documents related to security, as well as other useful security links for industry reference

In addition, Wonderware Security Central brings you Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds. RSS is a "pull" technology, which permits people to subscribe to shared data such as news headlines and website links. So you can receive information when and how you choose.

See the New Control Engineering SI Supplement

At the end of every year, Wonderware works with Control Engineering magazine to develop the annual System Integrator (SI) supplement. An online version of the supplement is available for download in the SI Program section of Wonderware's website. Reprints are also available for distribution to your customers. (Please contact your Wonderware distributor for copies.)

This supplement includes a complete listing of all the Wonderware Certified and ArchestrA® Certified System Integrators enrolled in the Wonderware Solution Provider Program. The SI Supplement goes out to approximately 85,000 Control Engineering subscribers worldwide and is a great promotional tool for all Certified and ArchestrA Certified System Integrators.

In addition, the Control Engineering supplement also contains feature articles that may benefit you and your customers. The 2006 issue includes:

  • "A Recipe for Operational Excellence"
  • "Best Practices from System Integrators"
  • "How Wonderware Empowers Lean Initiatives"
  • "Managing Equipment Performance Increases Capacity"
  • "Managing Equipment Operations Reduces Variance"

The Wonderware QuickStart Concept Helps Solution Providers Develop Better Applications Faster

Adopting Best Practices through Wonderware QuickStarts

Wonderware components can be implemented in many ways to accomplish a wide variety of tasks, especially in the area of Production and Performance Management.

Wonderware has developed simple application examples called QuickStarts that are associated with the latest Wonderware functional modules. These QuickStarts facilitate the sharing of best practices, specifically in terms of how to configure and deploy the capabilities of multiple Wonderware components to address typical industry requirements. These QuickStarts are design tools for engineers and system integrators looking to adopt best practices and kick-start their design process.

A QuickStart accelerates design and implementation with reduced risk by supplying applications, database structure, HMI graphics, Web reports and implementation guidelines — increasing development productivity with easy-to-use examples.

Equipment Execution QuickStart for the Equipment Operations Module

The Equipment Execution QuickStart demonstrates how the Wonderware Equipment Operations Module can be applied in a process-manufacturing scenario that addresses the execution of an assigned production work order to a piece of equipment.

The Equipment Execution QuickStart provides several components in pre-configured examples of:

  • Equipment Setup and Formula Management
  • Equipment Setup and Downloads
  • Equipment State and Machine Monitoring
  • Production Event Capturing

The Equipment Execution QuickStart package contains pre-defined:

  • Templates, unit/work cell definitions and sample deployments
  • InTouch® screens for equipment management
  • Configuration with content and reports from the Wonderware Information Server (formerly known as Wonderware's SuiteVoyager™ software)

Equipment Utilization QuickStart for the Wonderware Equipment Performance Module

The Equipment Utilization QuickStart demonstrates how the Equipment Performance Module can be applied in a generic manufacturing scenario that addresses how to improve asset utilization for improved business performance.

The Equipment Utilization QuickStart provides several components in pre-configured examples of:

  • Downtime-Event Frequency
  • Duration Metrics
  • Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) Metrics
  • Production Metrics

The Equipment Utilization QuickStart package contains pre-defined:

  • ArchestrA Objects for calculating equipment and line efficiency, equipment downtime, event tracking and production metrics
  • InTouch SmartSymbols for displaying key performance indicator (KPI) dashboards
  • Wonderware Information Server equipment-performance reports, dashboards and drill-down data displays.
